Located on a hillside overlooking Lake Geneva, facing the Alps and Mont Blanc, Château Pictet-Lullin enjoys a privileged geographical location and terroir. Like many Bordeaux wine chateaux such as Léoville-Lascases or Lafite-Rothschild, Pictet-Lullin takes its name from the families who owned it over the centuries. The first grape varieties appeared on the hillside a long time ago, but it was at the end of the 18th century that Marc Pictet Micheli exploited the estate by building the farm, the press and then the mansion. In 1843 the complex was acquired by Charles-Léonard Lullin who developed it, enlarged it and enclosed it with a stone wall that is now protected! Through the marriage of Renée Lullin and Amé Pictet, ancestors of the current owners, the estate takes the name of Château Pictet-Lullin. This six-hectare estate planted with Chasselas, Altesse, Pinot Noir, Garanoir, Galotta, Divico, Merlot and Malbec grape varieties is certified organic and biodynamic. The basic idea of biodynamics consists of working with the four fundamental elements - earth, water, heat (fire), and light - and transmitting these elements to the vine, taking into account the influence of the lunar cycles, the positions of constellations, but also the time of day. Thanks to specific plant, mineral or animal-based preparations, these products are then stirred with “dynamized” water and applied to the plant in homeopathic doses, the aim being to make the soil and the plant more receptive to the many influences of heaven and earth and thus to strengthen the harmonious links with nature. Thus, this approach reintroduces respect for the cosmic rhythms essential for working the soil, its regeneration and for all the care given to the vine, throughout the cycle of the year.
