Surrounded by breathtaking gardens and greenery, Família Salton has its root grounded deep in the charming region of Bento Gonçalves, in Vale das Rio de Antas. Antonio Domenico Salton began the tradition of vine cultivation in 1878 when he left Italy and moved to Brazil for better opportunities. After vinifying informally for many years, Antonio got help from his sons, which later indulged themselves in their father’s business. The company was formally established in 1910, when the brothers Paulo, Angelo, João, José, Cesar, Luis and Antonio gave an entrepreneurial touch to the business of their father, the immigrant Antonio Domenico Salton, who made wine informally, like most Italian immigrants. The brothers started to cultivate grapes and produce wines, sparkling wines and vermouths, under the name “Paulo Salton & Irmãos”, in the center of Bento Gonçalves. A century later, Salton is recognized as one of the main Brazilian wineries, a leader in the commercialization of national sparkling wines in Brazil. Today, at the head of the winery, members of the fourth generation of the family preserve the legacy of its founder, Paulo Salton, supported by the values built over more than 100 years of history and inspired by the simplicity and hard work of the first generations. Located in the extreme south of Rio Grande do Sul, on the border with Uruguay, it is a region that stands out for its vocation as a winery in the country. In its unit in Santana do Livramento, Salton grows Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in its own vineyards and also performs the first stage of winemaking.
