Finca la Anita vineyards are in Alto Agrelo in Luján de Cuyo, in the foothills of the Andes mountains in Mendoza’s prime region for fine wine production. The genetic heritage of Finca La Anita corresponds to a dedicated massal selection from different vineyards in Luján de Cuyo of proven oenological quality. The vines are reproduced in the vineyards where they are planted resulting in more diversity and greater complexity than many other vineyards which are populated by selected commercial clones. When the original owner Manuel Mas purchased the 72-hectare estate in 1992, there was only one pergola Syrah vineyard planted in 1947. The other half of the estate was leased to farmers who planted tomatoes and garlic annually. Between 1992 and 1995, Manuel planted Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. In 2020, the new owner Bernard Fontannaz and his Swiss consultant winemaker Richard Bonvin planted the Cabernet Franc. The soils are deep and compact with 90% clay loam. The vineyards are harvested by hand. Since 2020, behind each of their labels is the young Denis Vicino, a very talented native Mendoza, and versatile winemaker comfortable with a range of profiles who also guarantees the quality.
