Based at the ‘Home of the Brave’ in the Barossa Valley, First Drop is making wines with flavor, texture and a splash of funk; from fruit sourced from unique vineyards in the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Barossa to bring you a diverse, deliciously exciting and thought provoking line up of flavors.  First Drop was conceived in 2004 by two friends, Matt ‘Gantos’ Gant and John ‘JR’ Retsas, with a desire to make wines to drink, not just appreciate.  Between them they sport very impressive CV’s within the wine industry with numerous stints overseas (France, Italy, Spain, NZ, California) and at some of South Australia’s biggest addresses.  Matt was winemaker at St Hallett when he was awarded the highly-regarded 'Young Winemaker of the Year' Award.
