Founded in 1947, after the major houses ceased purchasing grapes from the growers of Vincelles in
the post-war period of economic downturn, was the stimulus needed for Henri Blin, a winemaker
born into a very ancient family of Vincelles, and 28 other winemakers to buy a press house of their
own. Champagne H.Blin is a company of 110 grape-growers, eight generations of winemakers born
into the home of Vincelles. The village of Vincelles is situated in the Marne Valley and covers an
area of 130 hectares. The vineyards are planted with 70% Pinot Meunier and 30% Chardonnay and
Pinot Noir (the distribution of plantations for the entire Champagne area is 30% Chardonnay, 30%
Pinot Meunier and 35% Pinot Noir). In Vincelles, replanting is rare. The configuration of the
Vincelles vineyard is exceptional: facing south-southeast, it receives the first rays of the sun and is
bathed in late summer in the sweet serenity of sunset. The sub-soil, mostly marno-limestone, is
well known to give finesse and delicacy to grapes. Simon Blin (president since 2009), grand-son of
the founder, and eighth generation of winemakers of Vincelles. His pride in the “Côteaux
Champenois” planted with Pinot Meunier is justified. His fight to defend the values of Pinot
Meunier, from” Meneur to Meunier”, is well known: making a 100% Pinot Meunier is his idea.
